Angelina, Evan and Oliver visited Austin in mid-October. A couple of weeks later we saw Samantha and Kate at their house.

We went to the Pioneer Farm, where we saw several log cabins where people lived 150 years ago. Oliver is almost four, Angelina is nine and Evan is five.

In a shed a man was showing how to use various hand tools. He made a piece of wood smooth with a plane. He cut a board with a saw and drilled a hole in the wood with a hand drill. Evan got to use the saw. He brought home the piece of wood he cut from the board he is holding in this picture.

They each fed some grass to the horses.

And they each rode on the cowboy saddle.

The next day we went to the Texas History Museum. They didn't allow cameras to be used in the museum so we took this picture of the three children at the base of the large Texas lone star outside of the museum.

Near sunset, about a million bats emerge from under the Congress Avenue bridge over the Colorado River in the center of Austin.

We went to the Lake Travis the next day. As we arrived we saw this heron looking for his lunch in the shallow water. We spent all afternoon here but I was so busy having fun that I forgot to take any pictures. Angelina and Evan waded, swam and paddled in an inner tube. We cooked hot dogs and marshmallows. We threw a frisbee around a circle.

The next day we went to San Antonio. The Alamo is the most famous building in Texas.

The wait-people in the Magic Time Machine restaurant dress in the costume of some movie character. The children tell me that this guy, the Joker, is a bad guy.

The salad bar in the center of the restaurant is in a 1952 MG. Grandaddy once owned a red 1952 MG.

We spent all of the next day in the back yard. Again, I was so busy having fun that I forgot to take pictures. Angelina and Evan enjoyed swinging on rope swings. They climbed trees. They helped Rosemary plant some plants. This picture was taken in the evening.
