A Springtime walk in Glen Finglas
Back to home pageFour of us had an enjoyable day walking in the Trossachs. The weather was quite different from our Springtime walk the previous week.

It was a nice day for a Springtime walk in the hills. The day turned out the opposite of our walk the previous week in Glen Vorlich -- the weather stayed good all day. The initial portion of the path is well-made and quite new, up a recently timbered hillside.
It was a bright spring day. The snow at higher altitudes adds to the pictures. The three friends are chatting as they walk up the path and fill their lungs with clean air. The hill about four miles away is Ben Venue, beyond Loch Achray.
The first view of Glen Finglas is from this hill. Our route goes along the right side of the loch and then along the base of the hill on the right-center of this picture. As the day progressed, the sun melted most of the snow on the southern slope of that hill. The loch extends north-northwest in this photo. Then beyond the view in this picture it extends about a mile further to the northwest.
Standing in the same spot, this is the view of Ben Ledi to the northeast.
This was our lunchroom, with views of the loch and hills in all directions. That's Ben Ledi in the background of this picture, to the east. There was a fairly strong wind blowing down the loch from the northwest, so we had lunch in the shelter of the hill behind the picnickers.
This is the view up the loch from near our lunch spot. Note the wind-blown waves on the water.
Three walkers have stopped along the track to look at clusters of frog eggs in a pool of water. The track can be seen along the lower slope of the hill on the right of this picture.
This view is looking back along the track from the top of the loch. Ben Ledi is in the upper left. These two walkers appear to be enjoying their walk in Glen Finglas.
This view is looking southeast late in the afternoon as we are descending towards the car, down near Loch Venachar. By this time we all had tender feet, since this is the furthest any of us had walked in a while. Our sore feet didn't diminish our feelings that it had been a beautiful day. It's great to fill our lungs with clean air.
