There isn't much flat land in the Torridon area, but the path we were following crossed this rather flat area, which the natives once used to grow crops, such as potatoes. It wasn't very productive soil. The people collected kelp from the high tide line and carried it up to fertilize the crops. The cottage where we were staying is visible in the center of this picture, on the other side of the Alligin Water.
